Whether you are experiencing pregnancy or postpartum anxiety, depression, or simply adjusting to life as a new mother counseling can help. Excessive worry, increase in anger or frustration, sadness, or feeling overwhelmed can all impact your ability to enjoy your pregnancy and journey through parenthood but you do not have to do it alone. I work collaboratively with you to increase understanding, increase confidence, decrease isolation, and restore harmony to your life.
I also have specialized training in birth trauma and grief for those who have more difficult experiences. This may include gender disappointment, miscarriage, infertility or fertility struggles, infant loss, traumatic birth, or infant health problems. These issues can bring up a variety of symptoms and make it difficult to enjoy other facets of life. I work with you to help regain strength and wellness.
Starting a new family or growing your family is a time of celebration and excitement but all transitions involve stress and can throw off your balance. If you and your partner are looking for support to reconnect, improve communication, and increase intimacy counseling can help.
Each person may grieve and process loss differently. If you and your partner are working through bereavement, disappointment, or sitting in the unknown, counseling can help you better understand each other and support one another during this difficult time.
Sexuality can be an important part of our individual identity, expression of self, and connection to others; yet, it is something we often don't have a place to talk about or openly address concerns. Many people feel shame and embarrassment around issues related to sex and sexuality. Sex therapy aims to address such issues in a way you feel supported and understood in a safe space to explore your inner thoughts, fantasies, experiences, and desires to whatever depth feels right for you.
Getting the conversation started about issues involving sex can be a great first step to finding greater satisfaction, pleasure, and confidence around all things sex. Here are some common concerns or topics that lead people to seek sex therapy:
· Sex and intimacy after an affair
· Uneven sex drive or different sexual desires between partners
· Talking about sex with your partner for greater sexual satisfaction
· Surviving and thriving after negative sexual experiences, abuse, or trauma
· Restarting sex after pregnancy
· Sex and fertility challenges
· LGBTQ issues
· Sex after prostate cancer, breast cancer, female cancers, other illnesses, or injury.
· Unique sexual concerns
· Alternative life styles (e.g., polyamory, swinging, BDSM, fetishes)
· Low sexual desire
· Premature Ejaculation, Erectile Dysfunction, etc.
· Arousal and orgasm difficulties
· Coping with pain during sex (vaginismus, dyspareuna, etc.)
I provide a non-judgmental space for you to better understand and explore your own sexuality or address relational concerns involving sexuality, sexual functioning, and/or intimacy through talk therapy (no physical touching). I work with all genders, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and cultures. I am currently completing hours and coursework towards my AASECT Sex Therapy Certification.
